Fly Fishing Trips for Western Massachusetts
Brush up on your casting stroke or learn to fly fish with Jim Dowd of Cattaraugus Creek Outfitters

Jim Dowd is an avid fresh and saltwater fly fisherman who was introduced to the sport at the early age of 7 by his grandfather, and he started tying flies at age 12.   He is a FFF Certified Fly Casting Instructor and is currently working on the Master Casting Instructor designation.  On his home waters, Jim is a guide specializing in float trips on the Deerfield and other western Massachusetts rivers.

Jim is also a Wilderness First Responder, a Class IV-V Oarsman, Co-author of The Deerfield River Guide and a Life Member and Former Chapter President of his local Trout Unlimited chapter. This summer he took time off to complete the Wyoming Cutthroat Slam, catching four species of cutthroat trout.  Several years ago, on his first visit to Acklins Island, it was love at first sight.    He is now a full-blown bonefish addict!

Jim’s favorite music is  U-2, Vivaldi & Albert King, while his favorite quote is “There’s no age limit on dreams.  There’s no expiration date…”   -- Dennis Hopper
